Volunteering

Volunteering with SCODP:

SCODP are always looking for great volunteers and our current opportunities and a volunteer application form are available below.

We currently have a team of three brilliant volunteers who are vital to keeping our organisation running, we really could not function without them.

Kristina McGready

Volunteer Administrator

Hi, I’m Kristina and I live here in Suffolk with my husband and three lovely daughters.

I decided to start volunteering when my two youngest children started nursery school as a way to engage with my local community and to meet new people from different walks of life. Knowing I am giving something back, whilst at the same time maintaining and adding to my skills is very satisfying. Before starting to volunteer for SCODP, I volunteered in the office of Selig (Suffolk) Trust, the charity behind the Ipswich Winter Night Shelter.

SCODP is a friendly place to volunteer. I like the team work aspect with other volunteers, staff and trustees and also the fact that I feel trusted by the team. I have a varied and flexible role, keeping the office running smoothly and helping with new projects. I enjoy being involved and seeing the improvements being made to the organisation, which will help SCODP to work more effectively towards its aim of being a voice for disabled people in Suffolk.

Becca Jackaman

Volunteer Disability Liaison Groups Co-ordinator

We are a small team but, whenever I volunteer with Suffolk Coalition of Disabled People, it is always different, and I find that exciting. I enjoy volunteering with them, because I share their vision around helping disabled people. As a wheelchair-user myself, I know first-hand some of the difficulties disabled people may face each day. It can be frustrating, but multiple voices are stronger than just one – you are not alone!

Tricia Gyton

Volunteer Administrator

I joined SCODP in 2018 as a volunteer administrator.  I work closely with Becca organising and advertising our courses.  I decided to become a volunteer as I would like to return to work after spending many years caring for my mother.  I have been out of the workplace for a while and wanted to update my skills and get back into a work situation.  I enjoy the work I do and I like the company of the other volunteers and staff at SCODP.
